Amidst a border crisis that is quickly spinning out of control, President Joe Biden tried to shift the blame onto former president Trump, saying on Wednesday that the wave of immigrants flowing into the country “started with the last administration.”
He said that the spike in traffic to the southern U.S. border started under the Trump administration due to “serious natural disasters” in Central and Latin America.
Biden claims that his administration accepts “the responsibility to deal with it humanely,” however, reports from the border continue to show a complete failure of management. ‘Children in cages,’ the famous tagline used against president Trump, is nowhere to be found in mainstream coverage of Biden’s identical tactics for detention and housing of unaccompanied minors.
Biden assigned Vice President Kamala Harris to take the lead on handling the migrant crisis at the border, saying that he believes her to be the most qualified person to work with the nations south of the U.S.
Customs and Border Protection have announced week after week, the record numbers of migrants crossing the border since the start of the year, when Biden took office. With 78,000 detained in January and over 100,000 for the month of February.
